SCRIPTURE: Luke 22:39-53
On Sunday afternoons at the Cutchins’ home, we usually have some early afternoon coffee, and find ourselves discussing the morning message. “AFTERTHOUGHTS“ is our way of sharing the conversation and discussion with you. In each post, we will ask five questions to spark discussion over a cup of coffee.
DISCUSSION STARTER QUESTIONS
- What stood out to you?
- What did you think needs more discussion?
- What were your biggest takeaways?
- What did you find most challenging?
- Why did you think this message was important?
For me, what stood out the most, was your quote of Thomas Edison, I read it and I thought “Wow, I never thought of it that way before”. Something that I would like to learn more about is how to have more compassion for our enemies. What are some ways that we can show compassion to our enemies without being walked all over? My biggest takeaway is that Jesus seeks to lift us up when we are down, which is something I’ve known my whole life but I am starting to find new meaning to. The most challenging thing, how could anyone bear to do to Jesus what all they did? After seeing everything that he did and knowing what kind of person he was and all the goodness he brought into the world and they still had the audacity to crucify him! The most important part of this message was the fact that even while we are in dark, troubling times, Jesus will bring us out and build us right back up again! Even better than we were before!
