“Don’t Settle For Less”

1 John 5:20-21
“And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.”

There is nothing more important in our lives than our relationship to the one true God. John closes this letter with one final emphasis on the uniqueness of Christ and the gift of eternal life that we receive through faith. He also warns us to WATCH OUT for counterfeit faith options.

John MacArthur writes:

“We can have the happiness God gives; why should we settle for the cheap substitute Satan offers? We can have the success of living righteously and pleasing our heavenly Father; why should we settle for the brief and disappointing successes sin produces? By God’s grace we can have the peace that passes understanding; why should we settle for the cheap satisfactions that everyone understands but that will soon pass?”

THOUGHT: Don’t settle for less!
