“Agree to Disagree”
1 John 5:9-10
“If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, for the testimony of God is this—that He has testified concerning His Son. Whoever believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. Whoever does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son.”
How does it make you feel when someone disagrees with you? If we are honest, it is probably a little natural to get irritated. One leadership thought is: “If you and your friend always agree, one of you is unnecessary.” Having different perspectives can help discover the truth in many situations.
However, if two people say opposite things, they cannot both be true. One can be right and the other wrong, or they can both be wrong, but they cannot both be right. Contrary beliefs are possible, but contrary truths are not possible. Once truth is discovered, anything that contradicts that truth can then be identified as a lie.
What God says about His Son is of greater authority than what any man may say. When we say what God says about Jesus, we are truthful. Anyone who does not… calls God a liar. We must agree to disagree with anything or anyone that opposes God’s truth.
CHALLENGE: Agree to disagree with anything that is not truth.
